
Polycom has recently announced an update to the firmware and bootROM to it’s SoundPoint IP family of phones.
SIP 2.2.0 firmware “feature release” is applicable to all SoundPoint IP family products except SoundPoint IP 300 and 500 models.
As Always, the Release Notes should be carefully reviewed before deploying this release.
The key new features in firmware 2.2.0 release are:
Enhanced user functions to allow easy migration for users switching from a digital PBX solution to a VoIP solution.
Enhancements to facilitate “zero touch” phone provisioning and management.
Initial Release of support for Secure Media using SRTP.
Enhancement to the XHTML micro-browser.
Improvements based on feedback from field deployments.
DND/Call Forward Synchronization with server.
An updated bootROM 4.0.0 is also available. This BootROM includes important enhancements for managing SoundPoint IP 300 and 500 series phones deployed in a network running SIP 2.2.0.
