The Sangoma A400 is the latest addition to the Sangoma analog telephony card range. Based on the successful REMORA system, the A400 is the high density version of the A200, and is the latest in Sangoma's range of Advanced Flexible Telecommunications (AFT) hardware, designed for optimum support of analog voice traffic.

The A400 and REMORA cards support up a mixture of up to 48 FXO or FXS ports. A single PCI slot hosts the connection to the PC for all ports, ensuring synchronized clocking for all channels. The base AFT architecture is shared with Sangoma's A101, A102 and A104 cards to guarantee high performance, 3.3V/5V operation and exceptional PCI compatibility. As your installation grows above 12 ports, you simply add more REMORA daughterboards to your system with the required FXO or FXS modules. These boards sit in place of a PCI board, but do not use the PCI slot.

The Sangoma AFT series of telephony cards are field upgradeable to take advantage of hardware and software improvements as they become available. Also, the A400 supports Sangoma's echo cancellation and voice enhancement daughterboard.

Architecture

The A400 consists of an A400 REMORA daughterboard mounted on an AFT PCI card. The A400 REMORA card has six sockets, each of which accept either an FXO-2 or FXS-2 module, supporting two FXO or FXS ports respectively.

Up to four additional A400 REMORA daughterboards can be mounted in empty slots in the PC chassis adjacent to the base A400 assembly, and connected to the A400 via a backplane bus connector, as pictured to the right, allowing a maximum of 48 ports per chassis.

Telephonyware offers the Sangoma A400 series in easy to understand bundles that come with everything needed for the number of ports ordered, including all the necessary A400 REMORA cards and bus connectors. The naming convention for this product is A4XXYY:

• XX — represents the number of FXS (analog telephone interface) moduless installed. Each FXS module has two analog telephone ports.
• XX — represents the number of FXO (analog PSTN line interface) modules installed. Each FXO module has two analog PSTN line ports.

Models that are bundled with the hardware echo cancellation module have D at the end of the model number. The echo cancellation module is an additional $299.00, and only one module is required for each A400 system.

Wiring Connections

The A400 cards incorporate a single DB25 connector on the back of the card, with 12 color coded telephone pairs at the other end, ready for hardwiring into a punch block for the PSTN connection.
